State Member for Hervey Bay Ted Sorensen is still pushing for local schools to be air-conditioned.

“I had mentioned a number of times – that the Labor Government should commit to installing solar panels onto Queensland schools.

“Finally yesterday, we have got that commitment and while it’s welcomed news, we must also air-condition our local schools.

“I had advocated strongly for the air conditioning, after listening to the concerns of our local community.

“The LNP made a strong commitment at the last election, to get the job done, and the residents of Hervey Bay strongly supported the initiative.

“Studies have shown that students perform better and produce better results in schools that have air conditioned classrooms, Ted said.

“When I speak to parents and teachers, I often hear about children falling ill through heat exhaustion which is why I have worked tirelessly to deliver a better learning environment for all children in Hervey Bay.

“We all know that when kids are sweltering, they struggle to learn effectively.  This is about priorities and the LNP team believe that Labor should be air-conditioning Hervey Bay Schools.
