LNP Member for Hervey Bay Ted Sorensen has come out swinging at the Palaszczuk Labor Government, over their failure to finish upgrades to the Hervey Bay Hospital.

Ted said the top floor of the newly built Emergency Department doesn’t have a single bed or patient.

“The only ones making use of the top floor are the pigeons nesting.” Ted said.

Shadow Health Minister Ros Bates joined Mr Sorensen at Hervey Bay Hospital and expressed her disappointment.

“I was informed by a local resident that their sick elderly mother was forced out into the rain, in the early hours of the morning while leaving the hospital.  ‘It’s great to have a new Emergency Department, but as a former Emergency Department Nurse I know it’s not useful if there aren’t enough beds, resources or staff.

‘It’s typical of this inept Palaszczuk Labor Government to fail the people of Hervey Bay and across the Wide Bay.  “Annastacia Palaszczuk is out of touch and her priorities are all wrong.

“They’re putting pigeons before patients.

“Instead of wasting tax payers’ money changing a hospital name in Brisbane, that money could be used to treat our sickest kids.

“Queensland hospitals are bursting at the seams, ramping has increased, regional maternity wards shut and there aren’t enough beds.

“Only the LNP has a plan to provide better local health services and ensure Queenslanders have access to a world-class public health system no matter where they live.”
