'Know-nothing' Minister Dick Dodges Scrutiny

The LNP's efforts to scrutinise the state of Queensland's health system were stymied by Labor's do-nothing know-nothing Health Minister Cameron Dick.

During Parliament's Question Time Shadow Health Minister Mark McArdle and Mudgeeraba MP Ros Bates asked questions about the status of MRI scans for children at the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital as well as the classification of forensic patients in the hospital system.

"The Palaszczuk Labor Government promised to be open and accountable but Minister Dick has clearly failed on both counts," Mr McArdle said.

"I quizzed the Minister about reports that children are waiting longer than six months for MRI scans that have a recommended wait-time of no more than three months but instead of an answer I received barbs and insults.

"I would have thought that the state's Health Minister would have had more to say than the equivalent of 'I don't know, write to me and I'll ask around.'

"This Minister is frozen at the wheel of his portfolio and the Premier won't do anything about his lacklustre performance."

Ms Bates said she had not seen a Health Minister that seemed to know as little as Cameron Dick in all her time in Parliament.

"Cameron Dick is surely the do-nothing know-nothing Minister of the Palaszczuk Labor Government," she said.

"Serious concerns have been raised with me about the re-classification of forensic patients at Robina Hospital as a cost-cutting measure.

"This is a matter that has real security consequences but instead of responding to staff and community concerns Minister Dick dismisses them off-hand.

"I think Queenslanders would expect more from the Palaszczuk Labor Government, especially after Labor's track record in health."
