Fraser Coasters invited to nominate for prestigious Cultural Diversity awards
Ted Sorensen, Hervey Bay MP, is encouraging locals to nominate, or nominate someone they know for this year’s Queensland Cultural Diversity Awards.
Ted Sorensen said applications were now open for the awards, which recognise individuals and organisations who have contributed to greater understanding and acceptance of our State’s unique cultural diversity.
“The awards are a meaningful opportunity to recognise contributions and achievements of individuals and organisations which support strong diverse communities across Queensland,” he said.
“There are 13 award categories this year which will recognise the broad variety of work and achievements that are indicative of our state’s cultural diversity.”
Nominations are invited in the categories of:
- Small Business (fewer than 20 employees)
- Business (20 or more employees)
- Language Independence
- Education and Training
- Public Sector
- Outstanding Community Organisation (Greater Brisbane)
- Outstanding Community Organisation (Regional)
- Communications and Media Award
- Outstanding Volunteer (Greater Brisbane)
- Outstanding Volunteer (Regional)
- Young Cultural Diversity Ambassador (25 years or under)
- Cultural Diversity Ambassador
The awards honour the commitment and effort from the many people who daily help make Queensland the diverse and dynamic place it is to live, work and raise a family, Mr Sorensen said.
“We want to recognise people who understand that cultural diversity enriches our lives in all areas, and communicate this positive message as role models in our multicultural society.”
Nominations close on Monday, June 16. Winners will be announced during Queensland Cultural Diversity Week being celebrated State-wide from August-30-September 7.
