Courts before kids in Labor air-con farce
The Palaszczuk Labor Government is happy to air condition court houses but leave kids to swelter in hot schools.
Attorney-General Yvette D’Ath issued a press release this morning, trumpeting a major air-conditioning upgrade at Hervey Bay Courthouse.
LNP Leader Deb Frecklington said Labor’s priorities are all wrong.
“Nearly half-a-million dollars has been spent on air-conditioning the local courthouse, yet school kids are left to swelter in hot classrooms,” Ms Frecklington said.
“This is another shocking example of the Palaszczuk Labor Government priorities being wrong.
“Only the LNP has a plan to air-condition every state school classroom in Queensland.”
LNP Member for Hervey Bay Ted Sorensen said Queensland is a hot state and if it’s good enough that we air-condition other public buildings, it should be good enough for our kids and teachers as well.
“This is all part of our plan to make Queensland kids the smartest in the nation,” Mr Sorensen said.
