Labor’s waste tax to hit Hervey Bay homebuyers

by Ted Sorensen

Annastacia Palaszczuk’s greedy tax grab from Queenslanders is continuing with the introduction of a new waste tax. During a meeting with Hervey Bay builder Russell Clark, LNP Shadow Minister for Small Business Fiona Simpson and local MP Ted Sorensen said home buyers would be slugged an extra $3,000 to build a new home because of two Labor tax hikes. “Builders will be slugged more to get rid of the waste in their skip bins and this cost will be passed on to new home owners,” Ms Simpson said. “On top of that, Labor is also introducing a new land tax […]

It’s the end of the line for lying Transport Minister

by Ted Sorensen
Comments are off for this post.
Annastacia Palaszczuk’s Transport Minister has been exposed again as incompetent and a liar after the CEO of Queensland Rail confirmed just 16 extra train drivers had been recruited to tackle the state’s on-going rail crisis. Liberal National Party Leader Deb Frecklington said the admission by Nick Easy contradicted claims by Transport Minister Mark Bailey, who told Parliament this week that Labor was ‘well on track’ to delivering the 200 extra drivers recommended by the Strachan Report in January 2017. “At this rate it will take Labor more than a decade to recruit the drivers QR needs,” Ms Frecklington said. “The […]

Wide Bay Health Funds Redirected

by Ted Sorensen

State Member for Hervey Bay Ted Sorensen is appalled by recent revelations that Minister for Health Dr Stephen Miles has been redirecting Wide Bay health services funding from our region. “Minister Miles needs to explain and then apologise to the people of Hervey Bay, Ted said. “Why has Wide Bay Health Services funding, that directly affects Hervey Bay hospital surgery wait times, being fleeced from our region and taken elsewhere. In a recent reported in the Courier Mail  on Saturday, 17 March 2018, it was confirmed that the Labor government has been redirecting funding away from Wide Bay Health Services. […]

by Ted Sorensen

My speech in Parliament yesterday (Hervey Bay—LNP) (12.46 pm): I rise to contribute to the debate on the Local Government Legislation (Validation of Rates and Charges) Amendment Bill 2018. This amendment bill seeks to provide retrospective rules to rates and charges issued over a number of financial years by the Fraser Coast Regional Council after a determination by the Supreme Court of Queensland on 6 November 2017 to uphold a decision in the case of Linville Holdings Pty Ltd v Fraser Coast Regional Council. During the financial years 30 June 2015 to 30 June 2016 and 30 June 2016 and […]

New figures reveal Labor’s growing Emergency Department crisis

by Ted Sorensen

New Queensland Health statistics have exposed the growing crisis in emergency departments across the state. In February, one in three emergency department patients were not seen within the clinically recommended time and ambulance ramping also increased. LNP Leader Deb Frecklington said the Palaszczuk Labor Government’s incompetence was causing misery and suffering for tens of thousands of Queenslanders each month. “Queenslanders deserve a world-class health system and Labor just isn’t delivering,” Ms Frecklington said. “Annastacia Palaszczuk promised to improve frontline services, but Labor can’t even get the basics right. “These aren’t just numbers in a spreadsheet, they are real people in […]

Solar panels for Schools – Air conditioning to come?

by Ted Sorensen
Comments are off for this post.
State Member for Hervey Bay Ted Sorensen is still pushing for local schools to be air-conditioned. “I had mentioned a number of times – that the Labor Government should commit to installing solar panels onto Queensland schools. “Finally yesterday, we have got that commitment and while it’s welcomed news, we must also air-condition our local schools. “I had advocated strongly for the air conditioning, after listening to the concerns of our local community. “The LNP made a strong commitment at the last election, to get the job done, and the residents of Hervey Bay strongly supported the initiative. “Studies have shown that students […]

Cruel 85% Neighbourhood Watch Funding Cuts Petition

Sign the petition – https://lnpq.typeform.com/to/MYn7TU Community crime-fighting in Queensland will be crippled by the Palaszczuk Government’s massive 85 per cent cut in funding for Neighbourhood Watch. Liberal National Party Leader Deb Frecklington said she was appalled that funding for the state’s 400 Neighbourhood Watch groups was being slashed from $500,000 a year to just $75,000. “We need to boost community involvement in crime prevention, not destroy it,” Ms Frecklington said. “What is the Palaszczuk Government thinking in targeting Neighbourhood Watch volunteers for spending cuts? “They should be backing community-spirited volunteers to the hilt, not stabbing them in the back.” Shadow Minister […]

LNP to fight Labor’s unprovoked attack on farmers

by Ted Sorensen
Comments are off for this post.
Thursday, 8 March 2018 Liberal National Party Leader Deb Frecklington today said she would fight tooth and nail to defend farmers and their property rights. “Sadly, Labor have today launched an unfair attack on farmers, their families and farming communities right across Queensland,” Ms Frecklington said. “Labor’s proposed vegetation management laws are offensive and I will fight them at every turn. “Instead of supporting farmers Annastacia Palaszczuk is tying them up in more red tape and threatening their ability to grow the food we put our tables and the fibre we put on our backs. “I will do all I […]

Labor locks in high fuel prices for Queensland

by Ted Sorensen

“Wednesday night the LNP called on Annastacia Palaszczuk to adopt the LNP’s real time fuel price monitoring policy, Leader of the Opposition Deb Frecklington said. “Labor continued to rip off Queenslanders, not supporting the LNP’s motion on real time fuel pricing. “It was also disappointing to see Pauline Hanson’s One Nation Party vote against real action on fuel prices and the Greens Party didn’t even bother to show up. “Our state has some of the highest fuel prices in Australia. “Queensland motorists are being taken for a ride every time they fill up. “A car isn’t a luxury for most […]

Shorten and Palaszczuk vow to kill off mining jobs

by Ted Sorensen
Comments are off for this post.
Labor continues to trade green votes for mining jobs in Queensland showing just how duplicitous they really are. Federal Labor Leader Bill Shorten has been caught out vowing to kill off the Carmichael coalmine despite the mine passing seven years of stringent testing including by Annastacia Palaszczuk’s Government. Annastacia Palaszczuk was once this project’s biggest fan, even putting together a secret royalty deal for the company. Now Annastacia Palaszczuk says her and Bill Shorten’s stance on Adani is exactly the same. If both Labor leaders are on the same page does that mean Bill Shorten supports the secret royalty deal stitched up by Queensland Labor […]

Labor challenged to cease ‘anti-farmer crusade’

by Ted Sorensen

The LNP today challenged Labor to stop its anti-farmer crusade and dump plans to destroy common sense vegetation management laws and ‘choice in marketing’ legislation for cane farmers. LNP Shadow Agriculture Minister Tony Perrett joined Shadow Natural Resources Minister Dale Last in the Burdekin to step up the fight for a ‘fair go’ for Queensland farmers. “The election’s over but Labor’s still scapegoating and demonising hard-working farming families and their communities,” Mr Last said. “Our farmers understand their responsibilities to protect the environment and they’re doing a great job of reducing fertiliser and chemical run-off and keeping precious soil in […]

What Is Queenslands Future

by Ted Sorensen

I’m honoured the people of Hervey Bay have once again elected me to represent them in State Parliament and I will work as hard as I can to get the very best for our region. However with the re-election of Labor at a state wide level, the onus is on Annastacia Palaszczuk and her Minister’s to deliver the infrastructure, services and lifestyle that Wide Bay locals deserve. As local member I will be pushing for Labor to honour the LNP commitment to extend the Urangan Pier to accommodate cruise ships potentially creating thousands of tourism jobs. I’ll pressure them to commit […]

by Ted Sorensen

LNP Member for Hervey Bay Ted Sorensen has described the pledge for a feasibility study into extending the Urangan Pier to meet the cruise ships, as a potential ‘game changer’ for our local tourism industry. “This initiative would not only boost Hervey Bay’s tourism industry by unlocking potential investment for locals, it would advance the entire Fraser Coast with increased employment opportunities and bring much needed tourism dollars to the area, Ted said. “Labor has dropped the ball over the past three years and is missing out on a golden era of international and domestic tourism, Ted said. “People who cruise Australian waters, have […]

Palaszczuk Derailed Over Repair Bill For New Trains

by Ted Sorensen

By SARAH ELKS, QUEENSLAND POLITICAL REPORTER – The Australian Newspaper Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has ordered $100 million be redirected to Queensland manufacturer Downer to fix the state’s new Indian-made trains, in a bid to shore up the super-marginal ALP seat of Maryborough. The controversial New Generation Rollingstock trains — commissioned by the Newman government in 2012 for $4.4 billion from Canadian company Bombardier— have been used by Labor to attack current Liberal National Party leader and Newman government treasurer Tim Nicholls. The carriages need to be fixed because people with disabilities cannot use the trains’ hallways or toilets, and the $100m […]

Labor Still Lying About New Trains

Annastacia Palaszczuk and her part-time Transport Minister Jackie Trad have continued their campaign of outright lies about new passenger trains for Brisbane. Annastacia Palaszczuk and Labor are more focused on their own jobs, than the jobs of Queenslanders Annastacia Palaszczuk knows the facts and yet chooses to lie to Queenslanders No Australian company bid for the contract to supply new trains for SEQ and Labor contracted the same company they are now criticising – Bombardier – to build trams for the Gold Coast Light Rail LNP Shadow Transport Minister Andrew Powell said Annastacia Palaszczuk’s decision to send the New Generation […]

Labor’s farmer bashing begins in lead up to state election

Annastacia Palaszczuk and Labor resort to farmer bashing to win election Labor again distorts vegetation management figures to paint farmers as environmental vandals SLATS report still deceptively includes drought feeding and clearing for fencelines and fire breaks as ‘broad scale clearing’ Shadow Natural Resources Minister Andrew Cripps said Labor’s predictable fearmongering over the release of 2015-16 Statewide Land and Tree Cover Study (SLATS) was designed to trash the reputations of farmers and landholders in the eyes of urban […]
