Two funding opportunities are now available to help community groups and organisations care for and protect the local environment.

1/. The Burnett Mary Regional Group (BMRG) has announced its Community Grants Program 2019 and the Federal Government’s Community Environment Program has re-opened for expressions of interest.

BMRG CEO Sheila Charlesworth said $50,000 of funding is available to assist community groups throughout the Burnett Mary region with improved delivery of natural resource management (NRM) outcomes.

“There are many wonderful groups throughout our region who volunteer thousands of hours each year in protecting and enhancing our precious natural resources,” Sheila said, “and this funding is aimed at supporting them in their work. Projects valued up to $2,500 that build an organisation’s capacity will be very much welcomed.”

2/. Federal Member for Hinkler Keith Pitt said the Federal Government’s Communities’ Environment Program has also re-opened for expressions of interest.

“This program will support local communities to deliver a range of on-ground projects that conserve, protect and sustainably manage our environment,” Mr Pitt said.

“Grants of between $2,500 up to $20,000 for small-scale, community-led projects for environmental priorities such as waste and litter reduction, protecting native animals, addressing weeds and pest animals, and restoring and improving coasts, wetlands, riverbanks and waterway will be considered.”

Expressions of Interest for the Communities Environment Program close on Friday, 6 September and EOI forms are available from Keith Pitt’s office.

Applications for the BMRG Regional Community Grants Program close at 5pm, Monday 30th September 2019. Applications can only be made using the BMRG Regional Community Grants Program Application Form which can be requested from BMRG’s Regional Agriculture Landcare Facilitators:
